Lecture of Abraham Morgentaler

Please join us for a lecture "Lodz, testosteron and human dignity" by Dr. Abraham Morgentaler, son of writer Chava Rosenfarb on Tuesday, October 17 at 6:00 pm to the headquarters of the Lodz Scientific Society at 11 Sklodowska-Curie Street today. It will be delivered as part of the International Academic Conference "CHAVA ROSENFARB AND JEWISH WRITERS OF THE 20th CENTURY" Lodz, Testosterone and Human Dignity".

In this lecture Dr. Morgentaler describes his personal journey with testosterone research over more than 40 years, first in lizards and then in humans. This research revolutionized medical concepts regarding testosterone, in particular reversing the belief that testosterone is dangerous for prostate cancer. The lecture highlights how fundamental scientific concepts can be based on misinterpreted data, yet may persist despite obvious evidence to the contrary. Dr. Morgentaler will share his provocative work in high-risk patients, emphasizing the importance of human dignity. This concept was inspired in Dr. Morgentaler by the experiences of his parents, physician Henry Morgentaler and author Chava Rosenfarb, both of whom grew up in Lodz, Poland, and who survived the Lodz Ghetto and Nazi concentration camps, before eventually marrying and moving to Montreal Canada, where Dr. Morgentaler was born.
Dr. Abraham Morgentaler is one of the leading global experts in the use of testosterone therapy in men, with a research career in the field spanning more than 40 years. His work has demystified the use of testosterone and revolutionized the understanding of its benefits and risks. In addition, Dr. Morgentaler has led major initiatives or helped establish platforms that have supported research and clinical excellence regarding testosterone therapy.
Dr. Morgentaler is currently an Associate Professor of Surgery (Urology), Part-time at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston and the Blavatnik Family Faculty Fellow at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Morgentaler obtained his undergraduate degree and medical degree from Harvard University, and then performed his internship at residency at Harvard Medical School. He has now been on the Harvard Medical School faculty continuously since 1988.
Dr. Morgentaler has published over 200 scientific articles in many of the leading medical journals, such as the New England Journal of Medicine and The Lancet. His h-index is 58. He is best known for revolutionizing biological concepts regarding testosterone and prostate cancer that had been in place since the 1940s, leading to greater confidence in the use of testosterone therapy by physicians around the world. Dr. Morgentaler has been credited with pioneering the modern use of testosterone therapy through his research, clinical work, teaching, and books.
In addition, Dr. Morgentaler founded the first comprehensive men’s health center in the US in 1999. He co-founded the Androgen Society in 2016, an international multidisciplinary organization of testosterone researchers and clinicians, and co-founded the journal, Androgens: Clinical Research and Therapeutics. Dr. Morgentaler has been honored to give the American Urological Association Lecture at the Annual meeting of the European Association of Urology, and the John K. Lattimer Lecture at the annual meeting of the American Urological Association.
He is the author of several popular books, including, The Truth About Men And Sex: Intimate Secrets From the Doctor’s Office, The Viagra Myth: The Surprising Impact on Love and Relationships, and Testosterone for Life: Recharge Your Vitality, Sex Drive, Muscle Mass, and Overall Health.
