The Łódź Picnic of Diversity is an opportunity to meet artists from all over the world who live in Łódź. During the event, there will be many workshops for young and older (including African cuisine workshops, circus animations, dance and singing workshops).
On stage, we will hear music from various cultures, including Jewish, African, Balkan, as well as local – from Łódź/Bałuty.

Ablaye Badji
Ablaye Badji was born in the Senegalese city Ziguinchor in the famous family of griots (musicians) - Cissokho. Surrounded by the cultural wealth and music of his ancestors, Ablaye began his musical education by exploring the secrets of playing traditional instruments such as djembe, kora, sabar, and seourouba.
As a professional musician, he plays all over the world. He is the founder of The Badji Band. Not only a performer, but also a great creative teacher. Ablaye specializes in conveying traditional rhythms so that students learn in an atmosphere filled with joy.
 
Yankel Band
The YANKEL BAND group was established in 2000, it is a laureate and participant of many national jazz, blues and ethnic festivals. He creates his own instrumental music. In their compositions you can hear the musical atmosphere taken from the Jewish, Gypsy and Spanish traditions. The instrumental basis in creating the sound of Yankel Band is the violin and guitars. The authors of the compositions and arrangements are Piotr Przybył and Krzysztof Kociszewski, (more info at www.yankelband.com). The outstanding clarinetist Robert Stefański has joined the project.
 
Samokhin Band
Samokhin Band is a band from Łódź that plays compilations of jazz, funky, good old rock'n'roll and eastern folk. The group was founded in 2003 on the initiative of 5 musicians led by Paweł Samokhin - trumpeter and vocalist. This team fits perfectly into the specific atmosphere in Łódź, because this formation is made up of Russian, Pole, German, Armenian and Pole of Jewish origin. Full dialogue of the five cultures. During the picnic, the composition of the band will be expanded to include Ukrainian musicians.
 
Elektryczny Węgorz
Elektryczny Węgorz is a promoter of musical madness from Łódź, a singer, songwriter, music producer, record producer, publisher, author and co-author of music videos, album covers and the founder of the Flota Label label. Winner of the Point for Łódź award. His output includes eleven original albums, songs on compilations and guest performances in songs by artists such as Łukasz z Bałut or RSM. Since 2012, he has been accompanied by Łukasz z Bałut - musician, cultural animator, traveler, photographer and archivist of Bałuty.

15.00 "Treasure of the unnamed mountain" - a dance performance with live music for children aged 4-10, directed by Jacek Owczarek, organizer - Fundacja Materia (the performance will be translated into Polish Sign Language)
A unique show proposition for young viewers and entire families. This colorful story of friendship captivates viewers into a world of movement, sound and words, full of sensitivity. The artistic game of dancers impersonating subsequent characters, combined with text and live music, stimulate children's imagination and develop the ability to think abstractly. This world is transforming and changing before our eyes, inviting the viewer to a joint journey in search of… treasure!

15.00-18.00 Workshop on making Ukrainian motanki

Thread thread, fabric for fabric, weaving traditional Ukrainian dolls - motanki.
We fill them with pure intentions and love, we fill them with good energy, as our ancestors did. Motanka can fulfill many functions, but only the positive ones. Is a symbol. We put the good meaning ourselves. And the process of making this doll is very calming and ordering your thoughts, it's a kind of meditation.
 
15.00-16.30 Meeting with traditional songs: Polish and Ukrainian. Introduction to the technique of full and natural singing (also known as white singing) - workshops for adults, willing to have at least minimal experience with music or singing

During the workshop, we will focus on the basics of voice emission, both in traditional and entertaining singing. We will work on proper breathing, posture and voice quality.
Traditional songs will help us in this: Polish ones, where the truth and unpretentiousness allow us to discover the natural sound and strength of our own voice, and Ukrainian ones, whose harmony allows us to appreciate the beauty of multi-voiced singing and consonance.
 
15.30-17.00 "Women's Space of Freedom" - a workshop for women of all ages, regardless of age, language and religion

Workshop objectives:
1 / self-strengthening and mutual reinforcement in the female group;
2 / discovery of one's own roots;
3 / bonding with other women;
4 / discovering one's own herstory (from personal to social);
5 / linking the past with the past;
6 / discovering the strength of their own story as an area of freedom (because each participant decides what and how to tell, in what language).
The aim of the workshop is to create a space for free expression and trust in your own words and feelings as well as trust in other women.
 
15.30-17.00 Approach to the topic of stress in terms of Japanese and Indian culture

During the workshop, we invite you to learn about the approach to the topic of stress in Japanese and Indian culture. Thanks to this workshop, you will learn to recognize stress in your body, raise awareness of the symptoms and sources of stress and, above all, learn how to deal with it using Japanese and Indian tools and techniques proven over the centuries. During the workshop, you will learn how to breathe properly, calm down, meditate and lower the level of cortisol and adrenaline through contact with nature.

We will look at a variety of natural lands, soils and sands. Every land comes from somewhere and each has a story. We will talk about the earth underfoot and about the lands important to Someone. And then we will carry out painting works using the soil and sands from Łódź.

Language workshop, during which we will jointly consider the role of language in the mechanisms of exclusion, we will talk about the functioning and recommended instruments to make the language more inclusive, and we will try to develop our own solutions and recommendations.

The Łódź Diversity Picnic is organized by Marek Edelman Dialogue C, Faculty of Philology of the University of Łódź as part of the Open Łódź project, Łódź Event Center, HaKoach Association and the Łódź Diversity coalition. The Materia Foundation is the partner.
 
The project entitled "Open Łódź" co-financed by the European Union from the European Social Fund under the Knowledge Education Development Operational Program; implemented by the University of Lodz as part of the competition of the National Center for Research and Development No. POWR.03.01.00-IP.08-00-3MU / 18, on the basis of contract No. POWR.03.01.00-00-T155 / 18 of 02.21.2019.
The event announces this year's edition of the Łódź of Four Cultures Festival. The task is carried out thanks to co-financing from the budget of the city of Łódź.
