On behalf of the host of the commemoration, Mayor of Łódź Hanna Zdanowska, we invite you to the main commemoration of the 82nd anniversary of the liquidation of the Litzmannstadt Ghetto. The event will take place on August 28 at 12:00 PM at Radegast Station.

PLEASE NOTE: This year, the main event will exceptionally take place on Friday, August 28. The shift is due to the fact that August 29 falls on Saturday, the Sabbath, a holy day in Judaism.
Łódź remembers its residents, as well as the thousands of Jews from nearby towns and various European cities who lost their lives here or were deported from here to extermination camps. In total, over 200,000 Jews passed through the Łódź Ghetto.
August 29 is a symbolic date—in August 1944, the last remaining residents of the enclosed district were deported to Auschwitz-Birkenau by the German occupiers. After that, the ghetto was gradually liquidated.
Only a few thousand, at most over ten thousand people, survived the war. The few remaining Survivors live today in various corners of Poland and the world.
Every year, the City of Łódź organizes commemorations to remember these events and pay tribute to the victims, as well as to honor those who survived the Holocaust. During the event at Radegast Station, Survivors Leon Weintraub and Hana Svirsky will speak. Musical accompaniment will be provided by the Children's Choir of the City of Łódź.

Admission to the event is free.
The event is organized by the Marek Edelman Dialogue Center in Łódź and the Museum of Independence Traditions – Radegast Station Branch.
