Galicz – No need to be afraid, folks!

We have a pleasure to invite to a poetic performance No need to be afraid, folks which is a part of our Russian Culture Days on 19 March in Teatr Nowy.
TICKETS: 20 zł and 15 zł (gallery seats) can be purchased at Teatr Nowy box office

Alexander Galich (Александр Аркадьевич Галич, 1918-1977) - one of the greatest Russian bards, whose artistic output is valued on par with that of Bulat Okudzawa and Vladimir Vysotsky. He published his first poems before the war. In the 1950s, he performed with his own repertoire: he wrote lyrics, he composed music, he also accompanied himself on a guitar. Soviet authorities, worried about the political overtones of his works, forbidden him from performing in public, recording his songs or working in general.

In 1974, Galich left the Soviet Union. Abroad, he gained immense popularity among the Russian emigration, people around the world listened to his performances. He had a radio show "Galich at microphone" on Radio Svoboda. He died in 1977 in Paris.

Specially for the Russian Culture Days, we have prepared a premiere poetic performance No need to be afraid, folks! On 19 March, at Teatr Nowy, Polish and Russian artists will be performing. The spectacle has been developed by Łódź residents: Lech Dyblik is the director of the event and Michał Jagiełło translated song lyrics.
