THE BOUNDARIES OF LITZMANNSTADT-GETTO 1940-1944

tablica spornaPermanent marking of the ghetto boundaries in the cityscape of the present-day district of Bałuty is one of the projects dedicated to the 70th commemoration of the liquidation of the ghetto. Granite slabs with the inscription: LITZMANNSTADT-GETTO 1940-1944 were built into the traffic lanes in places where the ghetto borders were located during the Second World War. It is the continuation of a project initiated several years ago by Łódź-based artist, Wiktor Skok and carried out in a preliminary form by Polish and Israeli youth on April 30, 2004, when the ghetto borders were marked with inscriptions painted along the pavements.
